The 2010 Combined Jewish Appeal succeeded in raising $200,000 more than last year, it was announced at the Campaign closing event. Once all pledges are accounted for, it is projected that $36.6 million will have been donated. As an expression of age-old Jewish values, the Campaign’s theme of being “for one another” inspired an enthusiastic response from the community and giving on a level not seen for several years.
In addition to this base contribution, members of the community donated nearly $1 million in one-time gifts and more than $2.8 million in designated gifts to local and Israel projects, for a grand total of more than $40.4 million.
“By any measure, this year’s Campaign was a great success ,” said Jack Hasen, President of Federation CJA. “I want to thank our donors for their generosity and our volunteers for their dedication.”
He went on, “The achievements of this Campaign gives us every reason to look to the future with cautious optimism. While we have not fully recovered from the economic crisis of a year ago, we are definitely in a more positive position today.”
Federation CJA thanks this year’s Combined Jewish Appeal leadership team – Pascale Hasen, Chair, General Campaign; Selena Paperman, Chair, Women’s Campaign; Gad Bitton, Chair, Sepharade Campaign; Etty Abitbol, Chair, Sepharade Women’s Campaign; Shawna Goodman Sone, Chair, Young Leadership Campaign; and Michelle Cola and Cassie Levy, Co-Chairs, FedNext Campaign – as well as the Campaign Department staff. It extends gratitude to all of the volunteers who helped the Campaign achieve its goals. Especially, our thanks go out to more than 18,000 donors who showed their compassion by offering a gift.
