The Jewish Public Library Archives of Montreal celebrates the centenary of International Women’s Day, which is March 8, by presenting digitized archival material from some of the most historically significant women in the Jewish community. International Women’s Day is a celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
On Twitter, @JPLArchives, followers can find a best of “The Woman’s Page,” an editorial glance into Jewish Montreal women from the pages of the Canadian Jewish Chronicle, circa 1916-1917.
At www.jewishpubliclibrary.org/blog, there are full articles from “The Woman’s Page” and more about historic Jewish women of Montreal through digitized archival collections. Featured women include labour activist Léa Roback, the “first lady of music,” Ethel Stark, and communal organizations such as the Jewish Junior Welfare League.
